Tomorrow Men at THEE PARKSIDE 2/2

The dancer blocking your view towards the end is me. Sorry about that. Tomorrow Men yesterday (Saturday July 21, 2007) The Tomorrow Men were awesome yesterday. I don't think I can describe in musical terms what they do right, but I've seen lots of bands and I know what I like. They have it. Loud. Fast. Ton of energy. Waves of reverb. Solid rhythm section and flaming lead guitar. They are clearly having mucho fun being on stage and playing in a little dive. Guys in wheel chairs were rocking out. Feet were tapping. I wasn't the only one dancing! Women who had come to see other bands were shaking it. They have a myspace http://www.myspace.com/tomorrowmen http://www.myspace.com/theeparkside 1600 17th street , S.F. C.A. 94107. 415-252-1330

english beat at music in the park in San Jose

video taken as I walked from way back to up close... July 12, 2007 The English Beat kicked off the 2007 Music in the Park series of free Thursday evening concerts downtown at Caesar Chavez park. I had lots of fun. Especially at the end when I located the small circle of kids who were actually skanking. Access the photos on my flickr account using the link below. English Beat in San Jose put a smile on my face 4:45 pm Saturday 7/14/2006 I'm driving home from skating. Feeling happy. My knee seems to be ok and I skated the best I have in a month. Stop at a light. I am in my sticker covered van with skinhead reggae cranked up. A car pulls up next to me. The guy rolls down his window and shouts: DUDE! WEREN'T YOU AT THE CONCERT ON THURSDAY, WEARING A HAT? I reply: YEAH. He says: I SAW YOU AND YOU WERE DANCING LIKE A MADMAN. I smile. The light changes and I drive away. There are 1 million people in San Jose. I'm still smiling. // posted by Miles @ 7/15/2007 12:12:00 AM

UCSC ska show !! JOKES !!

Shot by: Lewis Ingham Lewis. I am the old guy skipping around like a fruit loop. The Jokes are providing the heavy heavy sound. This was back in May on Friday the 18th (2007). It was lots of fun. The label in the video is wrong. The band here are The Jokes. They are from Fresno and kick ass. Justifi are from Livermore. They kick ass too.

Saturday afternoon at CSP with Chris and Tyler

My knee is messed up, so my skating session was short. Chris still has a bad hip, but he was out anyways. He and Tyler were messing around in a mellow session. There are some good shots.

Lorraine by Bad Manners at Corona Theatre June 17 2007

This was an epic show for me. The first time I have ever seen Bad Manners. I had been waiting 25 years! I drove down to see the Sunday SoCal show in Corona. Dan told me the Fresno and Ventures shows suffered from a serious lack of fans, maybe 50 for each. At this one there were close to 200 people and while it wasn't sold out, it was nicely crowded. Monkey sounded great and was well received with lots of dancing. Bad Manners kicked ass. They played all the songs I wanted to hear, and a couple of cool covers I didn't expect. Buster sounded great, jumped around like a man possessed, and stuck his tongue out just enough! The whole band seemed to be having a great time and so did the crowd. If you are going to see one of the upcoming Monkey/Bad Manners shows, then you are in for a real treat. My only regret is that my "good" knee is messed up and I had to dance on one leg. Highlights included seeing the Monkey horn section doing the can-can, dancing with Donelle to "My Girl Lollipop", and getting Buster to sign my album cover from ~1982.

Follow the leader

Friday 6/15/2007 around 4:30 PM at the new Santa Cruz Skatepark in Santa Cruz, California. I had fun taking pictures of these two guys. The sunglasses on the small guy are hilarious. It was really hot and my knee was messed up so I didn't do much skating.
