FRIDAY

12/11: BIG D & THE KIDS TABLE w/ SB6 and The Agent Deadlies @Bottom of the Hill, SF , All Ages, 8pm

by -Peps X- *A.ll T.he R.ebels*

prologue..

Peggy commented: Kicking off Hanukkah the right way, Miles?

Peps commented: I will bring your hat miles- see ya there!

My replies: Kicking it for sure!. excellent! I miss my hat

main event...

I got there late, I think a couple of minutes after SB6 started their set. A decent size crowd, but not nearly sold out. I liked SB6 lots. I think I had heard one of their songs on a podcast somewhere. I especially liked their heavier songs. They have a really interesting and different sound. Lots of stage presence and charisma. They went out of their way to thank the opening band, and were really friendly after the show. Very classy.

Big D were good. Their new material isn't as fast as the old stuff and the show reflected that. When they want to they can still rock it. They had two women singing backup vocals and dancing.

I got my hat back from Peps which made me happy. I didn't see anyone else I knew. A kid did come up to me and say he remembered seeing me at all the San Jose ska shows a couple of years ago and he was happy to see me still at it. Sweet!

In conclusion, you should have been there!

SATURDAY

12/12: The Aquabats, The Action Design, Monkey @ Slims, SF, 9:00 PM (Doors: 8:00 PM), All Ages 6 and Over

I got there late and missed Monkey's entire set. Then it was sold out and I didn't have a ticket. Luckily a kind monkey found a slot for me on the guest list, so I got in! Action Design were pretty good, but everyone just wanted the Aquabats to come on.

The Aquabats were awesome from beginning to end. So much energy and fun! It was so packed that there was no skanking circle/mosh pit. I did find a group of San Jose kids who and linked arms to form and inward facing circle and were all skanking like mad. I got to join for a couple of songs and it was quite cool. I made me think of a micelle, which is geeky. I saw Alyssa and a couple of other friends for the first time in maybe 6 months or a year. I tried to find Donelle, but failed. I did see her at the very end skanking on stage during the Aquabats final song.

The kid toss is always a highlight and this show was no exception. The kid was way into it. I got a very cool video as he sailed into the crowd and landed right next to me. They also used a kid as a human battering ram to defeat a giant evil tortilla monster! You probably had to be there to understand. This video clip might help. Check out this slideshow too.

Afterwards, I eventually made to Concrete Jungle at the Knockout after some navigation and parking issues. I didn't arrive until 1 AM, so I only got an hour, but it was a great hour. Good good tunes. Just enough people dancing, more girls than guys. A couple of girls making out. Another girl doing a non-stop sexy dance that didn't seem ska-ish at all, but her skirt was super short, and she kept time, so it was enjoyable to watch. I stomped around like a maniac when they played the Specials version of Concrete Jungle, and otherwise just grooved. slideshow

Afterwards, it was pouring rain, so I went across the street to El Zocalo and had a couple of fried eggs over chicken enchiladas. They hit the spot and I reviewed all my pictures and video. There was a cop hanging out, who thought I was filming him, but he was super friendly once I explained I wasn't. The rain slowed and I drove home with a smile on my face while recording a podcast! I got home just after the morning paper was delivered.

Sweetness!

note 1 - wikipedia

Inverse micelles have the headgroups at the centre with the tails extending out (water-in-oil micelle). Micelles are approximately spherical in shape. Other phases, including shapes such as ellipsoids, cylinders, and bilayers are also possible. The shape and size of a micelle is a function of the molecular geometry of its surfactant molecules and solution conditions such as surfactant concentration, temperature, pH, and ionic strength.

is home after the paper was delivered. Still all a buzz from the music.

T-day minus one sk8 session

The weather was so wonderful all week, I decided I had to ask for Wednesday afternoon off so I could skate LCRSP one more time before they close for 2 weeks to install lights. I had a great time. After 18 months, I finally found my line around the tight little bowl. It doesn't look like much, but it sure feels nice to be able to go forever in a figure eight! I'm not really sure what I'm going differently. I guess finally pumping the transitions at the right time.

I also made it back up out of the full pipe a couple of times using a different line than before. Next on the list is carving over the steps in the travel-lodge pool. I'm afraid to drop in so that might be a stretch. Real pool coping and quick transitions push my limits. Some practice at Roosevelt sounds like a good plan of attack.
but his boss at the firm always thinks he shirks--the answer to the last two was Chris Murray who also covered this. original artist=?????
